Visiting Pingshan

I want to learn to use public transportation.

To travel in Pingshan, you can take a bus or a taxi. If you need to travel between Pingshan and downtown Shenzhen, you can also take a bus or a taxi to a Metro station in nearby Longhua, and then shift to Metro.

The Shenzhen Tong Card is Shenzhen’s public transport card. The card can be used for all metro travel and all bus travel and a few taxis. To purchase a Shenzhen Tong Card, go to any booth at any Metro Station and ask for a "Shenzhen Tong ka." Give them 100 yuan. The Metro workers will put 20 yuan as deposit and put 80 yuan in the card. The deposit will be given back to you when you return the card.

When you use the card, you get 5 percent discount on your Metro travel and up to 35 percent discount on your bus travel. The main convenience, however, is that you don’t need to change cards and you don't need to worry about losing the little green token on the metro.

There are about 13,000 cabs on Shenzhen streets. The minimum fare per ride is 13 yuan for red cabs and 8 yuan for green cabs, including taxi fuel surcharges (3 yuan for red cabs and 2 yuan for green cabs per fare).

It takes about 40 minutes to drive from Pingshan to downtown Shenzhen. You can drive through Shenshan Highway and Danping Expressway.

Pingshan Bus Terminus and Pingshan Long-Distance Bus Station, both operated by Shenzhen Yunfa Group, the largest long-distance bus operator in the city, provides more than 60 inter-province lines to 13 regions.

Address of Pingshan Bus Terminus: 273 Dongzong Rd., opposite to Pingshan Police Station

Address of Pingshan Long-Distance Bus Station: 117 Shenshan Rd, near the Gaosite Footbridge
